Omens

“Dressed in all black, like the Omen”...if you know me, you’d know how much I love Hip Hop and the culture that I was raised in. You’d also know that I’m from “Run DMC Land” (Hollis, Queens) of Jamaica. Queens, Nyc that is. So then, of course, you’d know that I used that line from a rapper…I must to pay tribute to. None other than the Queen Bee, herself…Lil’ Kim. Girl, I will love you for that line for, forever and a day. That’s slang people.

So let’s look at the Merriam-Webster definition of the word, Omen, shall we? Omen is defined as an occurrence or phenomenon believed to portend a future event: Augury. Basically guys, it can be said to be a Sign of a Coming event…or, a prophetic indication or significance. Marvel. Portent. For example, your right hand itching (in the hood), can be a portent or Omen. A sign that one is about to come into some money. That’s more slang. We associate our palm itching, to be an indication that there will be some kind of money, large or small amount, delivered to our hands soon. Omens.

Good, so now that we have the basic understanding of that word…I love to look at things and have fun with Omens. Which is why I loved, Lil’ Kim’s word play with that line…it’s more than a basic meaning and definition. It’s about the 1976, movie, “Omen” and ONE WEARING ALL BLACK was considered a sign or an Omen. Very much like the child, Damien, wore in the movie. Brilliant move. I love it Kim…showing off her impeccable skills. Now, many know why I like her. She’s one of my favorite rappers. Omens.

The Educator in me, also loves critical thinkers. I appreciate those that think and go beyond the normal. I have an awesome birth chart, so I’d like to say, “I’m perfectly aligned with my line of work.” A plethora of topics interest me. I guess one can fairly say, that lots of topics, appeal to the “sapiosexual” in me. Omens.

But I can easily turn off and on, whether a particular topic, will pique my interest any further also. Don’t ask me how. I just will. So back to Omens, if you read my book list, you’d know that, “The Alchemist” is also a favorite. I usually like things that can that cause a positive, paradigm shift in others. Especially, if I can measure, the subject’s growth. It’s always been something super cool and fascinating to me…and, it’s things like that to me, that are, Omens.

So what are some of you guys omens for this new year? I had one major one…that is finally time to act upon. It’s time to be single again. I love both, the single and married life. Both forced my growth. Both were absolutely necessary for me to master, my self…to me, both were, Omens.

Hopefully, none hold it against me but my view of life, is very different from the status quo and that’s exciting to me. I will not and shall not apologize for my approach towards life. I’ve experienced much tribulation and hardship due to others, trying to force feed me their bullsh*t belief system, I refuse it still. You do what’s for you and I will continue to do what I know to be good for me. Omens.

I don’t ask permission to live my life on my terms only. I only am concerned with Source. Oneness matters to me. We all need one another. Becoming codependent on anyone or thing, can and will destroy everything in it’s path, so please be mindful. I don’t have time to hate anyone, so I don’t.

I love life…because I know that LOVE is the only thing that is real. I see it all as my gifts. My experiences are my gifts, my contribution to mankind, to help the collective expand. My good, my bad and my ugly. They were all one and the same. Which is sheer magnificence and beauty, all by itself. Omens.

Teaching me and others to expand. To try to view life, a little different, each time. Which is all good. That’s more slang. Omens. Are you able to read the signs? They’re there…you just need to be silent, so that you can actually see, that they’ve been there, waiting on you, all along. Omens.

Everything needs love. We all need to heal. That’s the key to success. Healing and Self Love, anything else is pure foolishness but have at it. I surround myself with those that appreciate having me, in their lives now. I walk in my truth, not another. I don’t concern myself with… who does or doesn’t agree with me. I’m free. Living my life on my terms. The truth is liberating as hell but it will cost one dearly. Be mindful. Omens.

I lost the mask guys and stopped pretending. I simply began to follow the Omens people. And, I must say, “It’s beautiful because it’s where the Divine dwells. It’s there, in Love. Just look for the Omens.
