Imitation

Some say, “Imitation is the most sincere form of flattery.” I used to think that was cool until one sees the not so sweet side of flattery. We call that, “Throwing shade” in the hood…others may consider it being, “Coy.” I don’t know if I agree with that one but either way…imitation is a great from of escape. Just don’t escape for too long. One will need to find one’s way back to reality, eventually. IF one isn’t careful, ONE can get stuck in the illusion. None of us want that. Although, I do understand why some don’t want to face reality, anymore…(sometimes the fantasy is better than reality). Life can be painful. That’s why imitation of life, is so highly esteemed. Personally, I believe imitation isn’t flattery, it’s just flat out fake.

I know great people, living awful lives because they’re too busy pretending for others, instead of being themselves. They’re miserable because they’re fake. The total opposite of being, Free, is imitation. I used to be that same way…and, it almost sucked the life out of me. So I dropped that false belief system like a bad habit. It cost me too much, it was all Fugazi. I wanted no parts of it and fought like hell to free myself and my life of all the fake-ness. Y’all can have it. I went back to just being, Me, Myself and I…thank goodness. I decided being me, is best. The Fugazi isn’t for me. Bump the opinions of sheep, I’m a LION…and, I’m cool with that all day. Remember guys, it’s all just supposed to be life lessons only. Please take none of it personal because it’s not. It’s never too late to do things, differently. Apologize if you can, then let it go. Do things differently or keep your apology… it’s a waste of time. No one has time to play mind games, especially with one out of touch. Grow up, stop all this imitating others…it’s extremely disheartening…because it makes you lose touch with your true, self. No bueno. Who are you? Do you even know you anymore? Of course you don’t because you’re too busy out here imitating others. Go locate yourself. Find the real you. That’s the Self...its shadow and light. accept it all. Nowadays, I apologize when I can and leave the rest there. It’s not my business, if someone forgives me or not…because…Guess what? I forgive myself. Why? I gave myself closure already because I don’t have time to carry around the weight of guilt and shame…I do what I can, look for the lesson and then, I move on. When I know better, I do better. It’s 2022, folks….(updated -1/20/23) We’re going to have to learn to love ourselves because others are all out of it, for now. Mary J. Blige sang it best, “Love is all we need.” I know that’s right Mary. Because Love is the only thing real, folks. Smile.
