Hey, one has got to love the hood & just being Black. We set the trends. I use to wear fronts -in NYC, that’s what we call grills, “fronts”–My gold teeth here said,“Trina” (*Fronts..designed by, Eddie’s Gold Caps* in the Coliseum). If you know, you know. That’s slang. Wink.
I thought on this the other day, watching the movie, “ATL” by rapper,T.I. viewing that scene, where his boy, Jason Weaver’s character, was getting his boy’s mold done…it took me right back to getting my own fronts done, long ago. I ended up losing them, a couple of years later. Wink.
Anyway, I looked at these pics (below) and said to myself, “Lawd, I was still such a tomboy” just somewhat on the low with it. Females didn’t usually wear fronts with their name on them back then. Only the guys wore fronts with their name but that tomboy in me couldn’t resist it, so of course, I did. Heck, the fellas didn’t seem to mind…I had to be 18 or 19 years old here @ “Shirt Kings”…Wow, look at the memories. Sigh.
Come to think about it, I truly believe I lost my “fronts”…teaching Chrissy, Nelly and Keisha, to jump out of a cab and run. I was certainly a bad influence, growing up. What can I say but, karma. Shrug.
My mother used to say, “Katrina, (she only calls me, Katrina, when she’s mad) I’m worried about you, you’re too wild to be a girl!” …yo and she was dead serious!! That’s more slang, people. Read the article, “Katrina” click link here, KATRINA
If she’d only knew about me and one of my brothers, (Napalm) hopping out cabs or how we’d “regularly” be running and jumping over the 3rd rail on LIRR train tracks in the backstreets of Hollis, instead of walking our butts around, to get to the other side. Read the article, “Hollis” click link here https://triddykatsmeow.com/hollis She would have certainly lost it. Poor Mama…my bad, I knew better. Guess it just appealed to that tomboy in me more. One day, I called her just to say, “Ma, I so get it now & I thank you, for staying on me.” She laughed and said,“ You were determined to have & do things your way, but not if I could help it!”
Heck, I’m the youngest, of eight children…& I’m the youngest girl, out of five…what’d y’all expect? An angel?! Please, I’m balanced in my masculine and feminine energy. Therefore; I use my shadow and light accordingly. Lol. Read the article, “Angels and Demons” click link here, Angels and Demons
I’ve come a long way. All four of my older sisters, were married and out of the house. Read the article, “Bones” click link here, BONES So my parents were raising me with all three boys and wondering, why I was so wild? Are you serious? Come on now, blame all of my older brothers, Ma…I had to run with the pack…Which catered to nothing but that masculine energy, in me, more…Plus, I’m a Fire element. That’s a masculine energy. I get up and take action. Blame the boys, cause I sure did…and, that excuse, got me out of everything being the only girl in the house. Lol
I had the feminine energy quietly tucked away but as I grew up, I saw and decided the Divine Feminine needed to be expressed and revered also. Marriage and motherhood helped me refine it more appropriately. If not, I would’ve found my life out of balance. So I worked on that. Awww, but it was sooo much freaking FUN…& unbeknownst, to all of us, at the time, they were “instilling” in me, to take RISKS. To be courageous and to stand bold, whenever necessary. So, I have nothing but love for all three of my older brothers, y’all rock! Read the article, “Rock Star” click link here, Rock Star
See, how that Feminine and Masculine energy within us, has to be outwardly expressed and balanced out? Told y’all that the Divine Feminine is to be silent no more. She’s demanding her respect. Bump all the Bustas. Slang. Let’ em take notes. Read the article, “Divine Feminine” click link here, https://triddykatsmeow.com/the-divine-feminine Everything, requires harmony & balance people…everything. There is high and low in it all. That’s that feminine and masculine energy, I was talking about in hood celebrity. Read the article, “Hood Celebrity” click link here, https://triddykatsmeow.com/hood-celebrity
Thank goodness, I’ve got it…And, boy, do I really get that now, Mama. XOX
I keep telling y’all that…Life is better than good, y’all!
